2003/04 AsianYachting Grand Prix Champions...
After nine tightly contested Grand Prix racing class regatta's held in six countries over the last eight months sees Peter Ahern skippering YO! and Sam Chan's Ffreefire emerge as the respective 2003/04 AsianYachting GP Skipper and Yacht Champions for the season.

At the final AY GP in Koh Samui at the end of May the Champions Blue Blazer and Perpetual AY Cup traditionally filled with chilled champagne was presented at a magnificent prize giving party on the lawns of the Central Samui Resort at Chewang Beach. Koh Samui Regatta - It's FFreefire again
Despite winning todays final race Troy Yaw's Ulumulu had yesterdays Racing Class 1A provisional race 5 win overturned by the International Jury in favour of Sam Chan's Ffreefire. This decision handed the Russ Parker skippered ULDB sled a narrow victory over Ulumulu skippered by Ray Roberts and left Gerry Daughton's Outrageous trailing in 3rd spot overall.

Presidents Cup results closing up the rankings
Neil Pryde's Hi-Fidelity (2004 Omega AYC winner) made a return to the top of the regatta podium at the Presidents Cup, after a close tussle with Ray Ordevesa's re-measured Karakoa and a consistent effort by Fred Kinmonth's crew on Stella earned them third place.

2004 China Sea Race
Sam Chan's eyecatching ULDB Sled Ffree Fire's China Sea Race win together with the 3 points scored for nailing the Hainan Race back in November see's them jump up to 6 points in the overall standings going into the Presidents Cup and the final event in Ko Samui.

BMW - RLIR 2004
On the last day of racing Malaysian based yachts have excelled themselves yet again, with Peter Ahern's Yo! winning the Prime Ministers Challenge Series Trophy from the Premier Racing Class 1A and Amir Zohri's Gotcha Lagi taking out the Premier Cruising Class 1B for the second year in succession.

7th QBE Phang Nga Bay Regatta - Hocux Pocux 2 to the fore
Superb breeze, torn spinnakers, a couple of collisions and some very exciting racing was the order of the week for the 7th QBE Phang Nga Bay Regatta which commenced from the Yacht Haven Marina at the northern end of Phuket Island. A fleet of 34 yachts were blessed with some of the most outstanding sailing conditions Phuket has enjoyed in years with blue skies and strong winds prevailing for the entire four days of the event. After two grueling offshore passage races between Phuket and Port Blair in the Andaman Islands, the 2nd Kate Group Andaman Sea Rally champ was crowned. RMIR 2003 - Ray Roberts finally wins on HB
After surviving 3 grueling overnight passage races up the west coast of Malaysia and completing 3 harbour races in Langkawi the eventual winner of the RMIR 2003 is Ray Roberts and his mainly Aussie rock star crew on Hollywood Boulevard.

"A downhill slide, full of gybes" is how one crew member described the finale of 2003 China Coast Race Week which started in Hong Kong and finished with Frank Pong's new "Jelik" taking line honours in Sanya, Hainan. Victory, however, on corrected time belonged to Sam Chan and his crew on "Ffree Fire" who finished just over 2 hrs and 40 mins behind the ex-"Pyewacket" More at...

Asean Regatta - It's Peter Ahern's YO! again
The 4th Asean Regatta is the first grand prix event from which a performance based AY Grand Prix Ranking system for Skippers and competing Racing Yachts is derived in Asia. Inaugural Borneo Cup 2003 - Miri, Sarawak
A boat with the same name spelt backwards Ulumulu emerged as the inaugural winner of the converted Borneo Cup Yachting Challenge 2003 trophy. The custom Sydney 46, owned by Troy Yaw and skippered by Bill Nicholson, won the cup "by a very close margin" announced PRO Mark Pryke at the presentation ceremony.
